Work for Us

Join the Hewshott Team

At Hewshott Farm Stables, we’ve built a friendly, family-run environment where people and horses are cared for with equal dedication. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to build a long-term career in the equestrian world, we offer a supportive place to learn, grow and belong.

There are always exciting opportunities to develop new skills, share ideas, and enjoy plenty of riding — whether you’re a beginner or experienced rider.

What We Look For

We value reliability, enthusiasm and a genuine love of horses.

Our team members are friendly, observant and caring — good with people, tuned in to the horses and always ready to lend a hand.

If you bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn, we’ll help you develop your skills and confidence.

Roles and Opportunities

We regularly welcome new team members into a variety of roles, including:

  • Apprentices and trainees
  • Grooms and groom/riders
  • Instructors and yard assistants
  • Volunteers who’d like to gain hands-on experience

We also offer work experience placements for school and college students, training opportunities for those working towards BHS qualifications and are proud to support programmes such as BHS Changing Lives with Horses.

Training and Career Development

No formal qualifications are required to join us — just enthusiasm and commitment.

We’ll support you every step of the way, from basic training to BHS Stages and beyond. Many of our team members have progressed from complete beginners to fully qualified professionals, including one of our apprentices who went on to become Apprentice of the Year.

This is a career that can take you anywhere — and we’re here to help you make the most of it.

What You Can Expect

  • Ongoing training and development
  • Career progression opportunities at any age
  • Riding opportunities on a range of horses and ponies
  • A supportive, family atmosphere where everyone is encouraged to grow
  • Flexible working and competitive pay

We treat our team like family — and, like any family, we celebrate the highs together and support one another through challenges.

How to Apply

We’re always happy to hear from passionate people who’d like to join our team —
even if we’re not actively recruiting at the moment.

If it looks like a good fit, we’ll invite you to visit the yard, meet the team and spend a couple of trial days with us to get a feel for the role.

It’s a chance to experience the reality of working with horses — from sunny mornings to Christmas Day muck-outs (complete with carols and prosecco!).
